ROOTs Transition

ROOTs Transition helps adolescent females ages 15-18 through a combination of outdoor therapy and residential treatment in a home-like setting. Students will build on skills learned in nature through daily practice in our home-like setting.

We integrate nature, intensive family support, and a continuum of care to help your daughter overcome trauma and maladaptive behaviors. We strive to help students build resiliency and gain the skills needed to create a life filled with healthy self esteem, positive connections, and new goals.

Students come to us with a variety of mental health challenges like anxiety and depression, school failure, family conflict, and other maladaptive patterns. Every client has an individual treatment plan based on their unique needs. Clinical hours will vary depending on what stage of the program that client is in.

We combine the healing power of nature with traditional therapeutic sessions. We believe that nature is a catalyst for growth and integration, helping clients to approach their lives with new personal agency and curiosity.

Founder & Executive Director – ROOTs

Kami’s passion for supporting youth and their families came after she was able to engage in her own healing as an adolescent. She realized the importance of connection and relationships when addressing trauma and how true healing can not happen without it. Her desire to mentor others and give back became a part of who she is today and guides her career.

Kami has worked in various resident treatment settings in a variety of leadership roles over the past 20 years. She received her Masters in Social Work and is clinically trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting, Somatic Experiencing, Trauma-Focused Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (TF-EAP) and NeuroAffect Relational Model (NARM).

Kami has dreamt of opening her own program for many years. She founded ROOTs Transition in 2020. With the combination of her passion, experience and an amazing team, she knows she can create a space of healing for all involved.
