As the Clinical Director at Asheville Academy, Mary guides the clinical team in supporting the girls and families through the change process. The therapeutic model that supports the change process at Asheville Academy builds insight into what makes relationships healthy. Girls, their parents, and siblings learn to better self-manage emotions, impulse control, and distress tolerance to build healthier and happier relationships. Improved self-control in the context of relationships creates choice, change, connection, and growth.
Mary specializes in therapeutic equine programming. As a PATH International advanced certified therapeutic horseback riding instructor she has served youth, adolescents and their families since 1999. Prior to joining Asheville Academy, Mary also spent seven years as a therapist in wilderness programs serving adolescent girls and their families with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
