Kokua Academy is a clinically sophisticated residential program aimed towards healing trauma that leads to addiction by providing a safe and nurturing setting for teens to work through their challenges and achieve lasting success.
With locations in Colorado (program for boys) and Utah (program for girls), Kokua Academy helps teens ages 13-17 on a path towards sobriety and recovery through research-based therapeutic techniques specifically designed to help individuals struggling with addictive behaviors which stem from trauma. Kokua places great emphasis on the science of recovery and is based on the guiding principle of “extending loving help towards others”.
Kokua utilizes outdoor recreational activities to help teens end harmful cycles of addictive behaviors. These activities are combined with experiential therapeutic techniques to assist in brain growth in order for students to become better prepared for their sobriety.
During their time at Kokua, students take part in meaningful service opportunities which help students reshape their mindset and take responsibility for themselves and others by giving back to the community.
Family intensive therapy is another focus of Kokua’s recovery program. Throughout the program, Kokua offers parent workshops which address the family system as a whole and help promote lasting change for students and their families.
